How much does it cost to build a house per m²?
It depends on the design, the plot and the finishes you choose. After a visit and a look at the plans, we prepare a detailed quote broken down by stage, with no obligation.
Do you handle planning permission?
We work with your architect and follow the process at the town hall (Câmara Municipal). If you don't have an architect yet, we can recommend studios we've worked with.
How long does a project take?
As a guide, a bathroom takes 1 to 2 weeks, a typical renovation 2 to 3 months and a new house 5 to 6 months. It depends on the size of the job and on permits, so we give you a schedule together with the quote.
Do you take on small repairs?
Yes. Damp, plasterboard, plastering, walls, roofs and painting. Send us photos on WhatsApp and we'll reply with a first estimate.
Do you work in Porto Santo?
Yes. We work all over Madeira and in Porto Santo.
I live outside Madeira. Can you manage the work for me?
Yes. You have one person in charge of your project and receive photos and progress updates regularly. We speak Portuguese, English and German.
Is the company licensed?
Yes. We hold IMPIC licence no. 124377, with insurance and paperwork in order.
Do you speak English?
Yes. We speak English, Portuguese and German, and we send quotes and progress updates in English.
Do I need planning permission to renovate a house in Madeira?
It depends on the work. Changes to the structure, façade, roof shape or use of a building usually need approval from the Câmara Municipal, while many interior repairs do not. We look at your case during the site visit and tell you what applies.
Can you renovate an old stone house?
Yes. Restoring old stone houses is a large part of our work: structure, roofs, damp, new services and interiors, keeping the stone where it is worth keeping.
How do you fix damp in Madeiran houses?
First we find where the water comes from: rising damp, rain getting in, leaks or condensation. Then we treat the cause, for example with breathable salt-resistant renders, damp-proof barriers or roof repairs, rather than just painting over it.
